Mike Andronico is an associate editor at Tom’s Guide. When he’s not writing about mobile tech and gaming, you can usually catch him playing Street Fighter, devouring Twitch streams and trying to convince people that Hawkeye is the best Avenger.

The Switch had a strong opening lineup. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey scored perfect 10s across the board, and Nintendo itself even won Brand of the Year at this year’s prestigious T3 Awards.

The Joy-Con Grip is an additional accessory that joins the two Joy-Con controllers together, forming something something a bit more solid for you to hold thanks to the extended handles and plastic block between the two sides. The square dimension form-factor may remind older gamers of the Dreamcast controller, while everyone else will mainly be thinking how it resembles an odd-looking dog face. Nintendo is providing one in the box with the Nintendo Switch, so you won’t have to buy one separately. This won’t charge your controller though and doesn’t have a battery pack.

Don’t underestimate this Wii U classic. It’s had an upgrade for the Switch. Decidueye brings the total playable Pokemon to 21 and Litten and Popplio have been drafted in as support. The new ‘team battle’ mode lets you assemble a three-Pokemon team and the ‘group match’ feature helps you find opponents of a similar skill. Master the single player Ferrum League, get stuck in to ranked online battles, or grab a sofa and share your Joy-Cons for a local match with your mates.

Do what you never thought possible with Nintendo Switch. Go from single- and multi-player thrills at home, to playing the same title wherever and whenever you want. Simply attach the Joy-Con controllers to the bright, hi-def display and you’re all set. Or detach the controllers and give one to a friend for some on-the-go, local multiplayer action.

But then there’s what other developers are bringing to the table, and there’s simply so much to choose from. From the smaller indie titles like Super Meat Boy, Human Fall Flat and Overcooked to the big budget ports like FIFA 18, Skyrim and Minecraft.

Major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and Target all have buy pages for the Nintendo Switch. (Currently, Amazon has stock of the Switch in Gray and Neon Blue/Red and is the only store that can deliver it on time for Christmas).

This Nintendo switch game is available in 3 languages, namely Japanese, English, and French. This is to say, there is the English version, Japanese version, and French version of the game. The Square Enix Switch I am Setsuna is great and will make you have a nostalgic feeling about the games you enjoyed when you were young. The multiple languages also make it easy to follow instructions and enjoy the “I am Setsuna” Nintendo Game.

We don’t know how much stock Nintendo is holding back for the physical launch of the system, nor how many have been pre-sold. We’ll be updating this post as we get more information and retailers announce plans, but if you’re serious about your quest I would begin calling local retailers now to see if they have any information about how they’re handling lines or stock, and call daily until they know for sure.

What if you want to keep playing? The sad news is, out of the box, there’s no way to play the Switch on your TV while simultaneously charging the Joy-Con. You could slide the Joy-Con onto the Switch tablet and play the console as a handheld, which will charge the controllers, but what if you want to play it on the TV?

This thing…sucks. Launching with barely any games, gimmicky, overpriced compared to considerably better console, this probably spells the beginning of the end for Nintendo in the console market. The graphics are mediocre and the controls are absolutely abysmal. We sold ours after a day, fortunately for more than we paid because of Nintendos false scarcity that they’ve created. Don’t be duped into buying this joke. You’ll regret it.

The Nintendo Switch has been wowing gamers since its release with its hybrid game console that goes from a hand-held device to a stationary system with incredible graphics and motion-sensor controllers. But are the games any good, and are they OK for kids? I was excited to buy this but the only games in the library are basically games I can already play on the Wii U or 3DS. My son quickly returned to his 3DS. Might get better use out of it in the future. For now, the joy cons are okay but not great and the pro controller seems overpriced so I will not be purchasing it unless it is on sale. Still love Nintendo but I regret being an early adopter on this console. I should have waited for a significant price drop or a bundle with a great game. If you are on the fence, I recommend holding out an hoping for a Mario Odyssey later on.

Got a Switch? If so, you’ll need Super Mario Odyssey stat. Alongside Zelda, it’s one of the absolute best reasons to have the handheld. In fact, if you don’t have the Switch, we advise running out and buying one with both of those games right now. Go on, we’ll wait.

The Nintendo Switch is gaining momentum with the role-playing game genre and has a promising future with over 50 third-party independent developers offering support. Like the days before it with previous Nintendo consoles, the Switch is on a journey to return to form, allowing for more role-playing games to its console. And there are already role-playing games released and lined up that are ready for any RPG enthusiast to dive into.

Super Mario Odyssey is by far the best Nintendo Switch game for kids due to its huge 3D kingdoms, diverse environments, fluid sandbox and entertaining gameplay. The new installment of the Mario series includes a ton of items and costumes for Mario to collect and a new way of playing by controlling object, characters and animals (dogs, dinosaurs, etc.) with your hat.

You can expect a series of characters to return from BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, Under Night In-Birth, along with RWBY. Unfortunately, there’s no specific release date attached to the video game quite yet other than developers stating the game will launch at some point in 2018.

Nice graphics, an amazing launch title with The Legend of Zelda: BOTW and the possibility of more great titles from Nintendo. The perfect platform for indie games. It feels good in the hands when not using the controllers separately. It appears to be well built besides the screen fragility. However it does have some serious issues. The battery life is mediocre to terrible, the screen can be scratched from the dock, you can’t transfer saves, and the online functionality social aspect is very weak. Nintendo is terrible with anything to do with online functions besides downloading games or charging you money. The framerate in docked mode is worse in some games that it is in handheld mode.

Teenage friends get together on a deserted island and, unsurprisingly, things get weird in this spooky, well-written adventure. Oxenfree isn’t a gruesome or stressful horror game, more a twisty supernatural yarn. Witty, believable dialogue reveals all the complex rivalries and secret desires that you’d expect from a group of small-town kids.

Bicker about what makes up a “core” Mario game all you want. All know is that Super Mario Odyssey is one of the two or three best games to ever have that lovable little guy’s name in the title. It is every bit as powerful as Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario Bros. 3, the previous high-water marks for Nintendo’s mascot, and for the platformer genre in general. Odyssey is an overwhelming cornucopia of pure joy, full of the kind of freedom typically found in open world games but with a constant chain of clear objectives and attainable goals pulling you ever deeper into its roster of candy-colored kingdoms. It’s a perfect bookmark to Nintendo’s other major Switch game of 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: both recraft a classic cornerstone of the entire medium into an effortlessly enjoyable and crucially contemporary masterpiece that unites all eras of gaming history.

This sometimes top-down, sometimes 2D side-scroller is a remade game from the early days of the NES. Blaster Master Zero follows the same ridiculous premise as the original but adds new weapons, areas, and bosses into the mix. We thought this remake was a little easy overall but, whether you’re fighting in the Sophia III tank or on foot as a soldier, there’s plenty of powerups and secrets to uncover.

A great co-op title you can grab physically or download digitally from the Nintendo eShop. Up to four players can play locally on one TV to serve up tasty orders across a range of kitchens, each with its own set of obstacles. It may even inspire you to ditch the Pot Noodles in favour of some home-cooked grub IRL.

Even so, shoppers shouldn’t anticipate Switches showing up in abundance on store shelves anytime soon. GameStop COO Tony Bartel recently said in an earnings call that new Switch shipments sell out as soon as they’re in stores, and he expects “to be chasing supply this entire year.” In other words, expect the Nintendo Switch demand to only get stronger in the back half of the year, especially as the holidays approach.

I am Setsuna is a story about a perpetual winter that centers around a mercenary and a maiden named Setsuna who must sacrifice herself to save her people. The game has a heavy theme of sadness and evokes 1990s style RPG gameplay using an active time battle system similar to Chrono Trigger.

Skyrim might be a game that’s six years old, but the portability of the Nintendo Switch makes it feel fresh again. What was once an exclusively home console and PC experience can now be played on your commute and there’s no denying that holding the wild world of Skyrim in the palm of your hand is exhilarating.
