Doom may be one of the most unexpected additions to Nintendo’s console we’ve seen so far, yet it translates surprisingly well to the Switch. Don’t expect the resolution to be as sharp as what you’d get on a more powerful console or PC, but this roaringly fast-paced shooter shines in handheld mode. There’s also some integration with the Joy-Cons motion controls for performing glory kills.
Chances are you are totally unprepared for the slithery platforming at the heart of Snake Pass because it’s unlike anything else out there. The inventive controls put you in control of a snake and it completely changes your perspective on how to get around. The initial learning process is challenging, but the joyful soundtrack, colorful world, and collectibles will keep you coming back for more.
Stop giggling, that’s what these are actually called! A number of talented folks out there have started making and selling simple cloth covers for the front part of Nintendo Switch Docks, adding a little bit of style and protection to your setup. There are a bunch of different designs, but more importantly these $17 Dock Socks keep the Switch display from being accidentally scratched by the plastic edges of the Switch Dock.
A masterclass in 3D platforming, Super Mario Odyssey seamlessly blends the best elements from nearly every Mario game with an entire portfolio of new gameplay mechanics to create something both nostalgic and courageous. New players will adore stomping through thep vivid and vast new worlds, while seasoned veterans will stick around after the credits to unlock the hundreds of challenges that await their skill and dexterity. To put it succinctly, Super Mario Odyssey is pure, sublime joy and one of the best Super Mario games ever made. – Brian Altano
Game UK has eight console bundles that start at £400 with free shipping. Very also has the console for £280 and bundles starting at £310. Amazon UK had the system available for £279 with free shipping to buyers in the UK, but is currently out of stock, though third-party sellers are offering it for around £280 and up.
Even with the Switch being a relatively new gadget, there are plenty of excellent add-ons that enhance and supplement the experience. Here are some of the best accessories you can get right now to elevate your Switch experience.
It would be hard to imagine running into a gamer who hasn’t played or at the very least, heard of Super Meat Boy. The video game was a massive success and a highly addicting and challenging platform title by indie developers Team Meat.
With long-running series like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing, Nintendo has developed an audience for games of the life simulator variety. That’s part of the reason Chucklefish and ConcernedApe’s Stardew Valley feels like such a natural fit on the Switch. Gameplay that involves planting crops as you watch your plot of land flourish into a prosperous farm is just the type of experience that works brilliantly on mobile. And since the Switch pulls double duty as a handheld device and a console, you can get that portability without the compromises that can come with using touchscreen-only controls.
Waterfield’s answer to the game case is an exquisite example of how you can look like a grown-up, but play like a kid. The Arcade Gaming Case is a beautiful designer bag made of full-grain leather (let me tell you, this leather feels so nice!) with a soft plush lining. It’s big enough to fit your Switch tablet (with the Joy-Cons detatched), a Hori Compact PlayStand, your Joy-Cons, all your necessary cables, and more. I managed to fit all of the above, plus my Mophie Powerstation XXL (which is a monolith itself) comfortably. It looks so good over your shoulder like a satchel, also carries around briefcase style thanks to the leather handle on top.
What makes the Switch an even better value than the Wii U and other preceding consoles, however, is the fact that it can double as a portable. This means gamers won’t have to spend extra on a DS device to play games when they’re away from the TV. With the Switch, you’re spending $300 for a stationary and portable console when you’d otherwise have to spend between $80 and $200 for a DS (depending on the model) and $300 for a Wii U bundle. From that perspective, the Switch looks like a bargain.
Super Mario Kart has always been a staple of Nintendo’s consoles, and there are plenty of reasons to pick up the latest installment for the Switch even if you’ve played Super Mario Kart 8. The Deluxe version introduces new characters like the Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy from Splatoon and an updated Battle Mode that includes new gameplay styles. Combine that with smaller updates like the ability to hold two items at a time and play with others without an extra controller, and you’ve got a game that substantially differentiates itself from its predecessor.
Born out of Harvest Moon, it makes perfect sense that Stardew Valley fits right at home on the Switch. The farming life sim is wonderfully open ended, letting you forge your own country path with fishing, fighting, farming, and falling in love. Additionally, being able to take advantage of the Switch’s sleep mode helps take some of the pressure off of not being able to save in the middle of a day, even if a few other bugs in the port are still waiting to be squashed here. – Tom Marks
Amazon has the Switch through third-party sellers. Most of the units are going for around $350. Third-party sellers also have units at Walmart’s site, too. Switch consoles start at around $375 with various shipping charges. Overstock.com offers free shipping on consoles.
What are the best games on Nintendo Switch? That’s a big question for any platform, and a very fun one to answer. During the process of putting together this list of Switch games, we took the following criteria into account: 1) How much fun we had at home and on the go with these games, 2) We weighed elements like longevity/staying power, influence, and innovation, 3) We opted for new games or ports with added content over games that were straight ports.
Like the title says, never have been in stock online or in store. Always out of stock. Been just over 2 months and can’t even purchase one…that’s sad that people have to wait for probably over 2 months because not many are brought in with each shipment smh
The Japanese firm said it will launch the Switch, a hybrid home console and handheld device, on March 3. It will be priced US$299.99 in the United States, the same as Nintendo’s current Wii U console, whereas in Japan, it will cost about 20 per cent over its predecessor at 29,980 yen. Canadian retailers Best Buy and GameStop have the console listed at $399.99 for online pre-orders.
No matter if we’re talking about Hatchimals or Amazon Echo smart speakers, whenever there’s a consumer craze and it’s nearly impossible to find an in-demand item in stores, opportunistic resellers pop up online eager to make a buck.

We’ve highlighted our picks of the best Nintendo Switch bundles below. Just be aware that they don’t really offer much of a discount over buying the items separately. We’ll steer you clear of console bundles that actively charge you more than the regular combined RRP (not cool, guys!).
This sometimes top-down, sometimes 2D side-scroller is a remade game from the early days of the NES. Blaster Master Zero follows the same ridiculous premise as the original but adds new weapons, areas, and bosses into the mix. We thought this remake was a little easy overall but, whether you’re fighting in the Sophia III tank or on foot as a soldier, there’s plenty of powerups and secrets to uncover.
So far, all we know is that Yoshi will be back into action in a new platforming title exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Visually, the video game looks to take some cues from the Paper Mario franchise but instead is focused on more construction-grade paper. For now, we’ll simply have to wait and see just what Nintendo has in-store.
After being burned by the terrible product that was the WiiU, which I bought on launch day and waited more than a year with zero decent games, the Switch is a welcome change. My console arrived on launch day with no shipping issues and does not have any of the notable problems. I did add some felt to the dock in order to prevent any scratching, but it was mainly a precaution. The Switch transitions seamlessly between console and portable more and the OS is extremely responsive. It’s definitely not a thin and light tablet, but it works very well. Would love a browser and some additional functionality in order to travel with this as my main tablet. Looking forward to many exciting games!
Below you’ll find the best role-playing Nintendo Switch games. Games range from classic hits to odes to the 16-bit era and a first party Nintendo game that is already winning hearts. Sure there will be more RPG games available in the future, but these are our favorites right now.
If you want to get the most out of your NBA game, grab the Legend edition gold, which comes with 250,000 VC, 40 MyTEAM Packs, Shaq digital items for your MyPLAYER, and more. This is all you could ask for out of this game for $83.
You’ve managed to snag a Nintendo Switch, and you’ve probably already picked up Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. But to truly get the most out of Nintendo’s new console, you’ll need some accessories.
Turn-based combat has been at the core of nearly every popular Pokémon video game. But when Pokkén Tournament debuted for the Wii U in 2016, players got their first taste of what it’s like to battle Pokémon melee-style outside of the few playable characters in Super Smash Bros. The new version of Bandai Namco’s Tekken and Pokémon mashup brawler for the Switch is even better, especially considering it addresses some of its predecessors’ biggest shortcomings. Most notably, Pokkén Tournament DX adds more playable Pokémon and a new three versus three team battle mode, among other changes.
