The Nintendo Switch has been released in North America, and it’s likely going to be very hard to track one down. This list will give you a good idea about what may have the units, and which retailers are a waste of time.
The Nintendo Switch is by far the best gaming console for kid’s on today’s market. Nintendo has always had a brand that was loyal to families, assuring that it had more games that focused less on realism and violence, but more so on the pure fun that anyone can play.
Those waiting for a new instalment in Nintendo’s super-fast F-Zero series of racing games will find lots to like here. Developer Shin’en has a reputation for pushing Nintendo systems to their graphical limits; RMX offers silky-smooth futuristic racing at extremely high speeds. Its clever colour-shifting mechanic – you have to flip between two exhaust colours to trigger speed boosts – at times makes it feel like a racing version of cult shooter Ikaruga.

Another good one from Nintendo Switch! The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is a randomly generated action-shooter that features rogue-like elements and heavy RPG. In this game, all you need to do is to follow Isaac on his journey to find bizarre treasures that change his form and give him supernatural powers for fighting off droves of mysterious creatures. As a player, you need to discover these secrets and fight the Isaac way to safety.
The Nintendo Switch is gaining momentum with the role-playing game genre and has a promising future with over 50 third-party independent developers offering support. Play your games wherever. Sounds like an easy thing to ignore, but trust me you will get used to it fast and love the fact that you can play while waiting for that lazagna you just put in the oven. At a picnic? Play Switch with your family. Fishing? Play at your own risk – but it’s possible. On a plane? Go ahead! In bed? That’s right. There isn’t an infinite library of games at the moment, but there are already good enough games that will keep you busy as newer titles arrive. Zelda is an obvious choice, but check out Shovel Knight, Fast RMX and Snake Pass on the eShop. Mario Kart is also right around the corner! Battery is fair for a device of this caliber. WiFi signal is strange, though… get an ethernet to USB adapter for online gaming when docked. You may have one from the Wii and Wii U era. I have a gaming PC but haven’t turned it on much since Switch release day. It’s amazing. I highly recommend it the console!
Classified as a tactical role-playing video game, Disgaea 5 Complete is both over-the-top in its multiple strategies and hilarious story, offering hundreds of hours of content. The game comes included with multiple language options, with complete English and original Japanese in-game voices.

The Nintendo Switch absolutely represents the future of home consoles. I use the word “home” loosely, as what you have here is an extremely powerful portable unit as well. Out of the box, you’ll be surprised just how compact this unit really is. Set it up next to your TV and you’ll be saying “is that all?”. If you’ve owned other consoles in the past, you’ll know what I mean. You barely even see it. Add the small SD sized games, and even your storage needs for games is a tiny space. The unit with JoyCons attached feels solid in your hands. Separated with JoyCons on the joining controller it also feels solid. Adults will note that the joycon fits a bit smaller in the hands, but you will quickly get used to it. The thing is, this is a console for all of the family, so having a controller that can be used by everyone is important. The Switch starts up fast, looks great on the screen (both TV and console), and does what it’s told when it is told. The simple interface on the console is a cinch for anyone to navigate. It will even start your TV up when you put the console on — without having to even set it up that way. Games look great no matter how you play. The internet connection is solid – never been an issue. Absolutely no regrets and a ton of fund playing Zelda and Imaginators. Can’t wait for more games – but to be honest these two will keep us going for awhile. No Netflix (yet) but I have it elsewhere. Would be nice though to take it on vacation – I imagine they will add it in the future. Love the Nintendo Switch! Rivals the NES as their best ever!!!!
You’re probably dying to get your hands on one. Well, hold up — it’s hard to come by. Here’s what you need to know about snagging the magically versatile gaming system, which has a suggested retail price of $300, £280 or AU$470.
If you protect your smartphone screen, think about doing the same for your Nintendo Switch. The amFilm tempered glass screen protector offers 99.9 percent screen transparency, so there should be no interference to your view while you dive into the latest Zelda quest. It’s cheap and effective.
The Nintendo Switch has been wowing gamers since its release with its hybrid game console that goes from a hand-held device to a stationary system with incredible graphics and motion-sensor controllers. But are the games any good, and are they OK for kids? The Nintendo Switch released to a ton of hype, both good and bad, but I’ve been very happy with it since getting mine. It’s solid at what it does; convenient, portable gaming that still lets you relax in front of your big screen. This isn’t you mainstream console competitor, it isn’t going to have all the AAA titles that the Xbox and PlayStation get, but it will have the unique appeal that Nintendo always manages to bring to its brand. I bought it so that my kids could share in multiplayer games like SnipperClips and Mario Kart wherever we are, from the living room to the car, and it’s great at that.
First the bad news. No retailer has discounted the Switch whatsoever. The Switch escaped Black Friday without so much as a $5 discount (as we predicted earlier). Now the good news — in our most recent search online, Walmart, GameStop and Amazon all have stock of the Switch and are selling it at list price. However, if you want one for Christmas, your best bet is Amazon. Prime members can get it on Christmas Eve for free or on Saturday, December 23 with expedited shipping at $10.99. Otherwise, no store can guarantee delivery by Christmas, so you’ll have to go out and purchase it in person. (If you’re not a Prime member, you can always sign up for a free trial and cancel your membership it when your trial ends).
What makes you think only “our enemies” are involved in the drug trade? The US has often found it convenient and expedient to ally with drug lords, your doubts notwithstanding. If there’s actually any eradication going on it’s not having much effect, as Afghanistan’s share of the world opium supply shot up pretty dramatically after the US invasion, just like it did after the US invasion of Vietnam.
Easily the oldest game on this list, the original Cave Story dates back to 2004. Essentially a homemade tribute to Metroid and Castlevania, that PC version was updated for the Wii and DS in 2010, and then enhanced for the PC and 3DS under the name Cave Story+ a year later. That’s the version that came to the Switch earlier this year. The same traits that made it so great in all its previous incarnations are present in the Switch port, but with the extra benefit of being playable on both a TV and on the go. This is the kind of long, intricate, Metroid-style game that’s incredibly tough to put down, making it a perfect fit on the portable Switch.
When Nintendo Switch launches in March 2017, it’ll be backed by some of the biggest names in the gaming industry. A wide selection of AAA publishers have pledged their support for Nintendo Switch, including Activision, Capcom, Electronic Arts, SEGA, Square Enix, Ubisoft, and many more. And, of course, Nintendo will release new titles starring their popular characters, like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and some new Mario games. It’s a great time to be a gaming fan.
Now that Christmas is just days away, the Nintendo Switch is in higher demand than ever. Fortunately, Nintendo’s hybrid console isn’t as elusive as it used to be. That said, you might have to do a little homework in order to find a console you can place under the Christmas tree. Here are your best options for buying a Switch.
bought this for myself and my for my kid, though my kid is using it almost all the time. It’s a great system when you can take it with you on the go if you want. The games are a lot more creative and interesting than those you would normally play on phones/tablets. As a dad, it really gives more time to play because of it’s portability. It would almost be impossible to sit down and be allowed to play continuously if you have a young family.
Players control one main character out of a party of three in an open world environment in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The action role-playing game includes a streamlined real-time action-based combat system that requires quick decision making for utilizing each character’s abilities such as magic, healing and blunt force attacks. Players have to keep a close eye on their companions, waiting for cool down periods and opportunities to attack. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 includes a soundtrack with performances by the Bratislava Symphony Choir, giving it a more epic and emotional feel with each choreographed action scene and quest.
Very compact gaming system that puts the older and bulkier systems to shame. The system was easy to set up, so easy my kids did it by themselves. The portability of being able to click in the controller sliders and take the game screen with you is very clever. The only negative I have is that the battery in the portable component only lasts about 3.5 hours. Excellent video quality on my 75 inch tv and the audio is seamless. It’s too bad that Nintendo didn’t bundle this console with a game so that the consumer doesn’t need to purchase a game as well as the console separately Overall I highly recommend this product, the kids and adults in my household enjoy playing it.
With so many people missing out on the original Mario Kart 8 on the ill-fated Wii U, it’s great to see it get another chance on the Switch and with all the DLC thrown in too (hence the ‘Deluxe’). Race on over to GameStop to take a look.
This has caused some retailers to try new things when selling the system. Amazon briefly had the systems but only for Prime subscribers. There are also many new accounts in the third-party seller section with no feedback that are selling the system for far below market cost. Stay far away from these. The price seems to start around $400 for legit third-party offerings; look for sellers with a long history of positive feedback.
If you’re a fan of detective stories then L.A. Noire is definitely worth your time, as the game tasks you with solving a number of crimes in the Homicide, Vice and Arson divisions of the LAPD. How you tackle each case though is completely up to you, with various options and outcomes possible. Interrogating witnesses or potential suspects plays a major part in the game, and determining who is telling the truth and who is lying critical to getting the job done properly. Naturally, for a Rockstar game, there is also plenty of firefights. This enhanced Switch version of the game is not only full fat and truly portable, but comes stacked with all of the game’s previously released DLC.
