The switch is incredible in terms of hardware. It’s amazing how Nintendo packed such powerful hardware, into such a small device. Switching between handheld and console mode works like a charm, without any hassles at all, and the joycons are a pleasure to use. However, I suggest you wait to buy the switch. There’s only a handful of games out right now, and even less that are worth playing. The only game that I wanted to play was Zelda, once I finished it, it felt like I had no reason to keep the switch anymore. I strongly recommend you to wait until the game library is larger, before you buy Considering how the console is sold out everywhere, it’s not worth to pay extra to buy from scalpers at this point.
Resident Evil Revelations takes you back to what happened between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, revealing the truth about the virus. With limited ammo and weapons, the race to survive is on for just $14.
Turn-based combat has been at the core of nearly every popular Pokémon video game. But when Pokkén Tournament debuted for the Wii U in 2016, players got their first taste of what it’s like to battle Pokémon melee-style outside of the few playable characters in Super Smash Bros. The new version of Bandai Namco’s Tekken and Pokémon mashup brawler for the Switch is even better, especially considering it addresses some of its predecessors’ biggest shortcomings. Most notably, Pokkén Tournament DX adds more playable Pokémon and a new three versus three team battle mode, among other changes.
In the narrative, Super Meat Boy Forever tells the story of Dr. Fetus who has managed to kidnap Meat Boy and Bandage Girl’s child, Nugget. While the platforming mechanics are present, there are some slight gameplay mechanic overhauls made for the upcoming sequel as well.
Nintendo has partnered with the industry’s biggest names, such as Activision, EA, Capcom, Sega and Konami. The highly anticipated Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the biggest launch title, greeted with near-universal acclaim. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a version of the Wii U hit, was also enthusiastically received. Super Mario Odyssey will be released toward the end of 2017.
What if you want to keep playing? The sad news is, out of the box, there’s no way to play the Switch on your TV while simultaneously charging the Joy-Con. You could slide the Joy-Con onto the Switch tablet and play the console as a handheld, which will charge the controllers, but what if you want to play it on the TV?
For basketball enthusiasts NBA 2K18 is as good as it get right now in terms of simulation , and here on Nintendo Switch you get the full fat edition of the game, with its myriad of game modes (career, park, team, ProAm etc) and customisation options left in tact. It doesn’t run at the butter smooth 60fps of the PS4 and Xbox One, however, it does cruise over 30 at all times and is incredibly playable thanks to an intuitive and fun control system. Slick production values and unprecedented licencing complete the package.
For those of you hoping to play your Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 on Switch, we’re sorry to say you can’t. However, you can pick up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe when it launches in April and enjoy everything Mario Kart 8 has – including all DLC – alongside new characters, courses and a brand-new Battle Mode that’s like the classic arena-based balloon warfare found on past titles.
Nintendo Switch’s main component is the Switch Console, a tablet-shaped device that’s packed with cutting-edge hardware. Slide the Switch Console into the Switch Dock and you’ll enjoy a complete, high-definition gaming experience on your TV.
I don’t think anyone could read Charlie Hall’s enthusiastic piece about returning to Magic: The Gathering without wanting to get in on the action. MTG has always been super intimidating to me, but I picked up the Mind vs. Might Duel Deck from my local shop this weekend and had a blast. To start building your own deck, grab a Deckbuilder’s Toolkit that has everything you need to get going.
Price: It is a factor to consider in almost every product including the Nintendo switch game. Well, a hugely priced Nintendo switch game may mean it has numerous features. However, this should not be a general notion, as most products do not reflect the real term of “you get what you pay for”. Try to go for a product that is neither too expensive nor too cheap.
Fast RMX’s gimmick is that at any point your craft has either an orange or a blue polarity, which match with speed power-ups that are spread around the track. By switching your polarity as you race, you can maximize the benefits these power-ups bring.
Waterfield’s answer to the game case is an exquisite example of how you can look like a grown-up, but play like a kid. The Arcade Gaming Case is a beautiful designer bag made of full-grain leather (let me tell you, this leather feels so nice!) with a soft plush lining. It’s big enough to fit your Switch tablet (with the Joy-Cons detatched), a Hori Compact PlayStand, your Joy-Cons, all your necessary cables, and more. I managed to fit all of the above, plus my Mophie Powerstation XXL (which is a monolith itself) comfortably. It looks so good over your shoulder like a satchel, but also carries around briefcase style thanks to the leather handle on top.
Super Mario Odyssey is by far the best Nintendo Switch game for kids due to its huge 3D kingdoms, diverse environments, fluid sandbox and entertaining gameplay. The new installment of the Mario series includes a ton of items and costumes for Mario to collect and a new way of playing by controlling object, characters and animals (dogs, dinosaurs, etc.) with your hat.
The glory days of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion hold fond memories for millions of people, and now the duo behind both those games, Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, have brought us Thimbleweed Park, a return to the point-and-click adventures of the early 90s. With the same sarcastic, surreal and self-referential sense of humour that the very best Lucasfilm Games adventures were known for, Thimbleweed Park is the perfect love letter to a much-loved era.
Puyo Puyo Tetris is without a doubt one of the best Nintendo switch games in 2018. It allows up to 4 players who decide whether to play the classic Tetris/Puyo modes in order to compete against one other or any of the game’s inventive modes that include one where a player must master both Tetris and Puyo together. This game is full of puzzle actions, and this makes it a must-have.
It didn’t work when I tried to turn it on. Turns out there is something wrong with the audio and the system shuts down unless headphones are plugged in. I had to send it to Nintendo to get repaired. At least its covered under warranty, but I was offered no compensation from Nintendo for the faulty product. Very disappointed.
I was excited to buy this but the only games in the library are basically games I can already play on the Wii U or 3DS. My son quickly returned to his 3DS. Might get better use out of it in the future. For now, the joy cons are okay but not great and the pro controller seems overpriced so I will not be purchasing it unless it is on sale. Still love Nintendo but I regret being an early adopter on this console. I should have waited for a significant price drop or a bundle with a great game. If you are on the fence, I recommend holding out an hoping for a Mario Odyssey later on.
It’s worth noting that the Switch has great ports of I am Setsuna, Lego City Undercover, Human Resource Machine, World of Goo, and more, but we didn’t include them in this list, as we’re opting to spotlight only new games or games with new content. Without further ado, let’s run down the list of the best games on Nintendo Switch.
Some of us don’t want Wi-Fi getting in the way of our online gameplay, and while Switch doesn’t offer an Ethernet port in the tablet itself there’s a way to make sure you’re wired when connected to the dock.
Sticking with non-exclusives, we arrive at the most downloaded Nintendo Switch game of 2017. Stardew Valley is a farming simulator. Fortunately, it’s not as boring as it sounds, in part thanks to its throwback pixel art graphics and chilled-out gameplay.
Enter platform paradise. Rayman Legends offers some of the best platform gaming available today. True, the Switch edition doesn’t really offer anything new compared to the versions on other consoles, but it’s still a must-buy. It gorgeous to look at. The controls are precise and responsive. And, at the end of each stage, there’s a rhythm level that kicks the experience up a notch with music that syncs up with your jumps. Platform on the go and slide your Joy-Cons out to share the experience with a friend in local multiplayer.
Project Octopath Traveler, which is currently still a working title, is an upcoming RPG title by developers Square Enix and Acquire. The video game will be a 2D 16-bit style RPG where players will control a part of eight different characters, all of which will have a role to play and reason for their journey.
What makes Nintendo Switch stand apart is its unique new modular design that allows the console to effortlessly “switch” between home console and portable handheld configurations. Placing the console inside the Switch Dock, which is connected directly to your TV, will activate the home TV mode and allow you to play the latest and Nintendo Switch games in the comfort of your own living room. In this configuration, you’ll also detach two Joy-Con controllers from either end of the console and insert them into the Joy-Con Grip attachment to replicate a standard controller feel. When it’s time to leave the house, simply reattach the Joy-Con controllers back onto the Nintendo Switch console and you’ve got a fully portable handheld system ready to go anywhere you want to game.
Thumper’s difficulty is suffocating. Along with the oppressive music and the stark graphics, it turns the game into a claustrophobic, stressful, frightening experience. It rattles around inside my brain when I’m not playing it, its velocity and brutality careening throughout as I try to unwind after playing. Thumper taps into art’s ability to alter our consciousness, introducing a new reality for us to get lost in, and it’s not afraid to let this dream world look and feel like a nightmare. Most rhythm games want to replicate the best time you could possibly have at a rave; Thumper wants you to feel like you’re shaking on the floor of a bathroom stall, praying for those weird shapes and sounds that surround you to go away. It is an essentially perfect realization of its own unique goals and concerns, and a game we’ll be playing and celebrating for decades.
It’s a neat feature, but it’s overshadowed by how technically capable this game is. It looks fantastic whether you’re playing it in portable or console mode, where it will run at a solid 60 frames per second.
I love this thing. Unreal screen, snappy interface, and beautiful design. The different ways to play are absolutely perfect for my lifestyle with small kids and lots of work trips. Transition from portable to tv and back again is almost instantaneous. Love that I can put it in standby and pick it up exactly where I left it when I get back. I do have the screen scratch problem with my unit, but no one in their right mind should ever use a device with a plastic screen without putting on a screen protector. I always have and I always will, and the scratching is currently on the screen protector. I will probably still send it in for a dock repair at some point in case someone unwittingly removes the screen protector for whatever reason.
The fact that Super Mario Odyssey manages to be so experimental while also drawing in the best parts of every Mario game to date, becoming a incredibly playable and joyous love letter to gaming’s most celebrated series in the process, is without doubt like a legendary Homeric odyssey – truly epic.”
If you’ve been playing Minecraft: Nintendo Edition, you may have discovered that you can’t split your Joy-Con controller to share with a friend in multiplayer mode. Looks like it’s time to invest in that second L/R Joy-Con pack. These Joy-Cons are almost as elusive as the Switch itself, especially the neon model, but they are still available at some places, and restock faster than the Switch.
The Nintendo Switch officially went on sale this past March for $299.99. But it’s been difficult, if not impossible, for gamers to get their hands on the hot new console—especially at the regular price.
