Nobody imagined Mario and Rayman’s Raving Rabbids would make such a wonderful match. We especially didn’t expect the pairing to translate into a deep, compelling and unbelievably charming strategy title.
Looking back, the Switch costs just as much as the Wii U did when it was released in 2012. It’s also $50 more expensive than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, both of which are currently available for around $250. So is the Switch really worth it? The answer largely depends on your preferences and priorities, but here’s a look at what you should consider before buying.
There’s loads of modes to enjoy and a ton of content to keep puzzle fans hooked, and the AI offers plenty of challenge to keep you coming back. The only downside is the added cost of buying it on the Switch compared to PS4, but if you want to play it at home and on the go, it’s still worth the investment.

Nintendo’s online gaming service is currently free for a trial period, but will become a subscription service in 2018. The service will cost $20 per year in the US (about £15 or AU$30). Prices for other countries have yet to be announced. Nintendo says almost all of the games will need a paid service subscription to play online.
New shipments are being sent out every now and then to local stores, as Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop and Target in the US. In fact, a GameStop rep told CNET that its more than 4,400 brick-and-mortar stores will be getting a minimum of five Nintendo Switch consoles each on Tuesday, August 15.
If you’re tired of playing the same classics on repeat, pick up Thimbleweed Park for an excellent new addition to the point-and-click genre. You’ll travel back to 1987 for a neo-noir adventure that you won’t want to leave.
I have been playing a few games on this system since release day (March 3, 2017). To date I have no complaints. The system is user friendly, easy to set and ready to go right out of the box. The “Switch” between TV mode and handheld is flawless. I use the system both ways on a daily basis. The battery life while in handheld mode is approx. 3 hours (playing Zelda: BotW). Controller battery life is about 20 hours of gameplay. I have both physical games and even a download from the eShop. All work well seamlessly. Adding Friends was a breeze and quick link options for existing friends of other games (Miitomo, Super Mario Run, Etc.) Linking my other eShop fund accounts was also simple. Now I Can purchase with my eShop money on any of my devices. I have only one concern with the system at this time – the low Memory (34GB) – which can be expanded via Micro SD card so there is room to grow outside the internal memory. Although I am still working on completing and enjoying the games I already have, I look forward to a wider selection of titles in the near future. I loo forward to my first chance to play online with others (like in Spaltoon 2). Overall, a regret free purchase
Playing very much like the original, Splatoon 2 takes what made its Wii U debut so much fun and turns it up to 11. The motion controls are still a little tricky to get used to, but the addition of the dual-wielded Splat Dulies (along with a set of new weapons, arenas and fashions) really helps keep it feeling fresh. The new co-op, wave-based Salmon Run is absolutely fantastic and the allure of being able to play absolutely anywhere makes Splatoon 2 a must-have.
But there’s more than just the astonishing Breath of the Wild to enjoy on Nintendo’s home-or-handheld device, and thanks to a mix of ports and sterling new games, the Switch has a rather fantastic lineup less than a year after its release.
It looks great, it plays superbly and thanks to the unique functionality of the Nintendo Switch, not only can it be enjoyed at home or on the go, but also has multiplayer built into the console with the Joy-con.
The Switch is more proof that technology is definitively getting to the convergence of stationary and mobile. It is a very delicate balance among portability and performance, Ergonomically, the device is a huge success, I can play for hours and my hands can manage it without any issue, much more comfortable than a 3DS-XL. The joysticks and buttons are at the true minimal size to preserve functionality while ensuring compactness. Screen size is also at the right dimensions to avoid being too small and provide enough detail at 720P. I have played with it mostly on portable mode, once in a while plugged to recharge as playing. A few times played on the TV, going back quickly to portable to enjoy the opportunity to play on bed. My only major concern is the limited battery size, I wish Nintendo could just add a few extra grams and getting a more useful 4-5 hrs playing time.

Very compact gaming system that puts the older and bulkier systems to shame. The system was easy to set up, so easy my kids did it by themselves. The portability of being able to click in the controller sliders and take the game screen with you is very clever. The only negative I have is that the battery in the portable component only lasts about 3.5 hours. Excellent video quality on my 75 inch tv and the audio is seamless. It’s too bad that Nintendo didn’t bundle this console with a game so that the consumer doesn’t need to purchase a game as well as the console separately Overall I highly recommend this product, the kids and adults in my household enjoy playing it.
Picross is Picross no matter where you play it, but Picross S is a top-notch entry for the puzzle game series. While its lack of touch controls is a bit disappointing, it brings some interesting new features that more than make up for it. The Mega Picross mode tweaks the formula just enough to make it feel fresh after you’ve exhausted the regular puzzles, and the co-op mode is a fantastically chaotic way to both work with and compete against your friends. Though beware of ruined relationships with that, it’s a real concern. – Tom Marks
The Nintendo Switch is now officially the fastest selling console of all time. After a sellout first year, it’s still on wishlists the world over, but it’s gradually finding its way back into the shops. Whether you’ve had yours since launch or you’re about to click in those iconic Joy-Cons for the first time, we’re here to help you find the best Switch games on the market right now.
Great console but I wish it had included at least one free game though. I was originally going to wait until Mario came out during the holiday’s to get one (and hopefully get some bundle or promotion around that time) but given the sadistic game that Nintendo likes to play with the intentional self-generated low availability, I decided to get one during Amazon Prime to avoid missing Mario Odyssey on release date.
So whether you’ve just grabbed the Switch and need a few pointers, or are you just looking for something new to play after conquering Zelda, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in our list of the 20 best games the Switch has to offer.
The Switch is great for multiplayer games since you can stand up the screen and split the controller between players. In fact, up to eight controllers can be used with one console. Speaking of the controller – which Nintendo calls “Joy-Con” – it can be used vertically or sideways with traditional buttons, motion control, or a combination of the two.
Before considering a bundle, price each of the components out and think about which (if any) of the extras you actually want. GameStop has periodically been offering a $500 bundle that seemed like a fairly good deal, with a console and a few peripherals that many people would buy anyway, including two popular games (“Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe”). Unfortunately, that package has been sold out lately.
There’s not much we can say at this point when it comes to the untitled Yoshi game. The series is well beloved by gamers of old and new with the character featured in a number of his own video games throughout the years.
In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, players can do virtually anything and become anyone. The game is filled with tons of interactive characters that players can have conversations with, leading to friends, foes and even wars. Skyrim’s main story focuses on a dragon set to destroy the world, but players can take plenty of detours with side missions and subplots to gain new abilities, level up their character and postpone any obligation to save the world.
