While its unique hybrid design is a big part of its success, console’s large library of games has to be credited too. Novelty won’t shift units forever – it’s games that will keep the Switch flying off the shelves.
If you don’t want to be part of the mad dash to snag one at local stores, here are some places that are still selling the Switch and its goodies online. Many of them have much higher prices than you might find at your local store, though.
By far the slickest Nintendo hardware to date. Have played Zelda for over 135 hours and not only is the game great, playing it while on the exercise bike, relaxing around the house was great as I am not tethered to the TV. The concept works as advertised. 1 star off for the barebones UI, lack of cloud saves and unknown online. But I feel like Nintendo has a winner with the Switch.
We adored Mario Kart 8 when it first came out on Wii U but noted one conspicuous absence that made many of us fall in love with the original Mario Kart on SNES to begin with: Battle Mode. Mario Kart 8’s encore on Nintendo Switch didn’t just keep the online community alive and added returning favorites like Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Blast, we also got a brand-new “cops and robbers” team mode with Renegade Roundup, all of the great DLC stages, and even some guests from the Splatoon universe. It’s not a new game, but one so good, it deserved to reach a bigger audience on Switch right away. — Peer Schneider
I wrote about my favorite board games from Settlers of Catan publisher Mayfair Games after they announced they would be shutting down their operation. I highly recommend picking up any of the games on this list, especially Star Trek: Five Year Mission if you enjoy co-op games and/or sci-fi.
The Nintendo Switch is by far the best gaming console for kid’s on today’s market. Nintendo has always had a brand that was loyal to families, assuring that it had more games that focused less on realism and violence, but more so on the pure fun that anyone can play.
Picross is Picross no matter where you play it, but Picross S is a top-notch entry for the puzzle game series. While its lack of touch controls is a bit disappointing, it brings some interesting new features that more than make up for it. The Mega Picross mode tweaks the formula just enough to make it feel fresh after you’ve exhausted the regular puzzles, and the co-op mode is a fantastically chaotic way to both work with and compete against your friends. Though beware of ruined relationships with that, it’s a real concern. – Tom Marks
You can expect a series of characters to return from BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, Under Night In-Birth, along with RWBY. Unfortunately, there’s no specific release date attached to the video game quite yet other than developers stating the game will launch at some point in 2018.
You can now get the Nintendo Switch Super Mario Odyssey bundle with the other versions of the console too. There’s not much of a discount, but seeing as the Switch is selling out again, this might be your last chance anyways. Amazon has the best price today.
This alternative bundle comes with the highly sought after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is packed with all the DLC content from the original version. The carry case is perfect for gamers on the go too. And don’t forget to use your steering wheel attachment! Get this offer direct from Nintendo.
Even with the Switch being a relatively new gadget, there are plenty of excellent add-ons that enhance and supplement the experience. Here are some of the best accessories you can get right now to elevate your Switch experience.
Through Stardew Valley you’ll grow crops, tend to animals and even blossom a romance with your favourite sweetheart. It sounds uneventful, but it’s one of the most engrossing games we’ve played in years.
If you’re a die-hard JRPG fan, then there is no better role-playing game for the Nintendo Switch out there than the Seiken Densestu Collection. The Seiken Densetsu Collection (Secret of Mana Series) is a compilation of the first three Secret of Mana games all ported to the Nintendo Switch.
This is the cheapest Nintendo Switch bundle we’ve seen that comes with a game. In all honesty though, Sonic Forces forces is pretty average and the extra $20 is more than worth it for the likes of Zelda or Mario instead. If you’re buying a Switch bundle as a present, this could be one to avoid. Loyal Sonic fans on the other hand may want to take a look. Then buy Sonic Mania instead.
Super Mario Kart has always been a staple of Nintendo’s consoles, and there are plenty of reasons to pick up the latest installment for the Switch even if you’ve played Super Mario Kart 8. The Deluxe version introduces new characters like the Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy from Splatoon and an updated Battle Mode that includes new gameplay styles. Combine that with smaller updates like the ability to hold two items at a time and play with others without an extra controller, and you’ve got a game that substantially differentiates itself from its predecessor.
Gather your family and friends because there is something to cheer about. The Just Dance 2018 Nintendo Switch is great for those who love pop music or want to indulge in playing a great game with family or want to cut the rug in style. Remember, songs are available through Just Dance Unlimited Subscription or Just Dance Unlimited Trial. The game features all the hottest hits of the year and it is fun for all ages, holidays, and parties.
I love how portable it is to take console quality gaming on the go. Battery life is fairly good. The screen is tough to see when playing in the sunlight and the stock controller can not recharge the joycons. Instead you need to purchase a separate joycon charging grip which is the exact same thing but with a cutout for USB C. I feel like Nintendo could of added this into the original controller that is boxed with the system.
With each person only able to do one thing at a time, and most meals requiring multiple stages of preparation, this forces you to split tasks up between you. The problem is that every task proceeds at a slightly different pace, meaning you’re constantly having to change your plans to deal with problems as they arise.
The reviews have heaped huge praise upon this eagerly awaited launch title, making it an essential purchase for any Nintendo Switch buyer. As with any new console, the prices of the big games can be more expensive than usual. We’ve shopped around for you though and have found the best prices for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch. Take a look below.
Why should you buy it? If you’re looking for something to play after Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you need to consider Ittle Dew 2. It follows the same gameplay format as old school Zelda titles, with a series of dungeons to conquer, puzzles to solve and people to help. But it’s got a beautifully cartoonish art style that makes colours pop from your Switch’s screen. And what’s more, the characters all talk and have brilliantly witty personalities that will have you chuckling all the way to the castle.
The console has a number of exciting first-party and third-party titles. Already it exclusively has two of the most critically acclaimed titles of 2017 with The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. But it’s also home to big third-party offerings like FIFA, Doom, and Skyrim.
Amazon has the Switch through third-party sellers. Most of the units are going for around $350. Third-party sellers also have units at Walmart’s site, too. Switch consoles start at around $375 with various shipping charges. Overstock.com offers free shipping on consoles.
To the right is the Nintendo Switch tracker. To be alerted when one of these items is in stock or available for pre-order, make sure to add that item to your account and turn on the corresponding stock status toggles.
Since its release in the spring of 2017, the Nintendo Switch has taken the gaming community by storm. A unique hybrid of traditional console and portable gaming unit, the Switch offers an experience unlike any other for gamers.
Happen to see Best Buy had some in stock and ordered mine without any problems and received it the following week. Thank you, Best Buy. Not enough games at the moment but I bought it for Zelda and Mario for now. Zelda: Breath of the Wild is beautiful game…by far the best Zelda to date.
Skyrim may be now six years old, however the Switch edition looks like it could be the absolute best version to date, with all the game’s myriad of DLC included (including a few Nintendo-themed extras), motion control added in for the console’s Joy-Con controllers, and true portable adventuring added thanks to the Switch’s ability to be taken anywhere. This classic western RPG has won more than 200 awards since its launch for a reason…
Amiibos – in the form of fun little character figures – are Nintendo’s wireless communications and storage system. They interact with software and allow data to be transferred over multiple platforms. Popular with both the 3DS and the WiiU, amiibos can now be used to access fun extras in compatible games on the Nintendo Switch.
the online retailer launched exclusive Nintendo Switch sales at midnight PST on March 3, for Prime members only. Stock was available as of an hour ago, but is now sold out. Keep checking for Amazon to restock the console. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available for 20% off for Prime members.
Switch has been selling quite well since the console debuted earlier this year; according to Nintendo’s latest earnings report, the system has sold 7.63 million units worldwide through the end of September. Nintendo also says the console is on track to outpace Wii U’s entire lifetime sales by the end of its first year on the market.
You don’t have to be a fan of the maniacal Raving Rabbids from the Rayman universe to appreciate this game. This Super Mario and Rabbids mashup is filled with tactical turn-based battles that are surprisingly delightful and addictive. Characters like Mario and Luigi, along with Rabbids cosplaying as those familiar faces, essentially function as weaponized chess pieces during battle. To succeed, you’ll have to intelligently hop around the battlefield, finding optimal spots for dealing damage while dodging obstacles along the way. Like many games of its genre, Mario + Rabbids invites you in with levels that are easily beatable but engaging, then ratchets up the difficulty as the plot progresses.
