Super Mario Odyssey is near-perfect. It carried ginormous expectations, but somehow Nintendo has managed to leapfrog over the bar by a huge distance. Offering the most satisfying gameplay experience of any Mario game to date.

Having the systems in stock is a big enough deal that retailers are tweeting about when they will go on sale, so be sure to follow as many as possible if you’re still on the hunt and have time to scan Twitter to see if you can catch the news in advance.

The Nintendo Switch has a list price of $300, AU$470 or £280. There’s only one color option for the console itself, but the attached Joy-Con controllers come in gray, or a more colorful option with one neon blue and one neon red.

There are, of course, important differences to consider. The game selection for Nintendo’s DS lineup is already much larger than the Switch’s, and it includes popular titles from well-known franchises like Pokémon and Fire Emblem that aren’t on Nintendo’s home consoles. If those games are a selling point, you may still opt for a DS even if you already plan on buying the Switch. Plus, some DS models are small enough to fit into a pocket or small purse, while the Switch is better suited for larger handbags, messenger bags, and backpacks. But those who already carry a larger bag to work and just want to play games like Zelda and Mario on their commute will likely find no reason to buy both a Switch and a DS.

Even with the Switch being a relatively new gadget, there are plenty of excellent add-ons that enhance and supplement the experience. Here are some of the best accessories you can get right now to elevate your Switch experience.

The Nintendo Switch is by far the best gaming console for kid’s on today’s market. Nintendo has always had a brand that was loyal to families, assuring that it had more games that focused less on realism and violence, but more so on the pure fun that anyone can play.

Much like our Yoshi pick in this list, Kirby is another fan-beloved character from Nintendo who has starred in his own video game titles for a number of years now. The Nintendo Switch will soon have its own Kirby video game title in 2018 as well with Kirby Star Allies.

Pokken Tournament DX is like the Pokemon Stadium evolution a lot of us dreamed about as kids. On top of looking great and featuring exclusive fighters not in the arcade version, DX most importantly adds something that’s been sorely missing from Pokken: portability. 3D Pokemon fights on the go are a dream come true, and new 3v3 battles (on top of the standard 1v1) are a quick pick-up-and-play way to learn the battle A story mode, online battles, and the ability to pour skill points into Pokemon to increase their skills make this the definitive version of Pokken and one of the best fighting games on Switch. – Andrew Goldfarb

If you’ve been a fan for a while and understand Japanese, the Seiken Densetsu Collection (Secret of Mana Series) is the perfect addition to your RPG collection for your Nintendo Switch. The games within a game include a three-player co-op mode for the Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3, so you and some friends can relive the classic groundbreaking series.

The Nintendo Switch is approaching a year of existence and, what was once an incredibly underserved console is now overflowing with games to pick up and play. Trying to find titles on the eShop can be an absolute farce, but don’t worry, we’ve got your back with our guide to the best Nintendo Switch games around.

What originally felt like an ungainly mash-up between two properties that share almost no common ground unexpectedly turned into one of the biggest gaming surprises of the year. The Mario imagery and Rabbid humor is almost beside the point: this game works so well because it’s a smartly built and balanced tactical RPG that innovates on genre convention through its liberal approach to movement. If you like Final Fantasy Tactics and XCOM but wish you could move farther and faster across their grids, with multiple different ways to accomplish that, you should check out Mario + Rabbids. It’s a colorful strategy game that looks and feels like nothing else out there.

The adapters that are included for when you snap out the joy controls and you want to share them with someone to play multiplayer are not that great. When you try to detach the adaptors (which is basically some plastic that makes the mini R and L buttons easier to use) it feels like you are going to break something because they attach too much to the joy controls. I wish they had thought of that when creating the design.

The Switch isn’t just home to cutesy exclusives. For those looking for something a bit grittier outside of the Nintendo fold, there’s Bethesda’s classic open-world RPG. You play a prophesized hero tasked with battling a horde of fearsome dragons – – that’s if you don’t get distracted by the endless list of side quests.

The pre-orders are gone, and the idea of a midnight launch is a little moot when so many locations are open 24 hours anyway. But the chain has confirmed that it will have units available for walk-in customers, although we haven’t been told how many units to expect at each location.

The Nintendo Switch is now officially the fastest selling console of all time. After a sellout first year, it’s still on wishlists the world over, but it’s gradually finding its way back into the shops. Whether you’ve had yours since launch or you’re about to click in those iconic Joy-Cons for the first time, we’re here to help you find the best Switch games on the market right now.

Nintendo currently offers a special $379 Super Mario Odyssey Switch bundle, which includes the game, a pair of red Joy-Con controllers that match the iconic hero’s signature hue and a carrying case inspired by the ex-plumber’s latest adventure.

As much as we love Rayman, we imagine many gamers have already played it or one of the multiple remasters over the years, so perhaps some of the other Nintendo Switch deals would be a better match. This is £10 cheaper than it was last week though. You can also get the same Nintendo Switch deal with the grey version.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a turn-based tactical role-playing game that features Nintendo’s Mario alongside with Ubisoft’s Raving Rabbids franchise. The game includes both a single and multiplayer campaign mode with each level consisting of a series of battles. Each side, both the player and enemy, take turns moving around a battlefield while taking shots at one another with laser guns. The easy-to-learn-but-hard-to-master game takes into consideration the player’s positioning and range, maximum movements, as well as other conditions that make for a fun and strategic gameplay.

In Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, players lead a group of three heroes (like Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach) and four Rabbids. Each stage consists of a series of battles with turn-based gameplay, kind of like chess. The strategy turn-based action game is great for any kids and players who want to think tactically and play a game that’s a little more mature than the rest on the list. It’s not a hard game to play, but it is a hard game to master.

The Disgaea series has been around for more than ten years now, and has continuously delivered fantastic unique strategy JRPG gameplay. It’s delightfully absurd at times, with its exploding penguins and crass dialogue, but that’s what makes the series so memorable. Disgaea V is the most recent, and most complete, version of Disgaea you can get, and the Switch’s portability works incredibly well with the turn-based play. It also has a ridiculous amount of things to do, too, so it’s well worth a look for RPG fans – especially if you love customizing the crap out of literally everything. – Casey DeFreitas

Remember Knock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots? How about Punch-Out on the NES? Combine the two, and inject a dose of motion-controlled multiplayer mayhem, and you have Arms. The title refers to the extendable, weaponised limbs that each character packs.

This Nintendo Switch bundle comes with a carry case that is ideal if you’re taking the Switch out of the home and it has space for game cartridges and accessories too. You’re also getting a play stand which will make it easier putting the console in a viewable position wherever you are. View this bundle at Amazon.

The Nintendo Switch is by far the most dissapointing Nintendo console they ever made. The lack of games is the biggest problem. There are very few games on the console and the best games , Zelda Breath of the wild and Mario Kart 8 are also available on the Wii U system which makes it even more useless. There is also many rports of problems with the stand and scratch made to the screen and problems with the controllers. I dont recommend buying this console unless you are a huge Nintendo fan.

The Switch is an incredibly versatile console, but Nintendo Switch accessories allow you to customize the way you play even further. You can use two Joy-Con controllers independently in each hand, slip them both into a grip for a conventional controller feel, or connect a strap to one controller to use it like a Wii-mote. If you prefer a traditional controller, try a Nintendo Switch pro controller that works with any mode and includes motion controls and two analog control sticks. Get cool in-game extras with amiibo figures. Simply tap your amiibo figure to the designated spot on the controller to unlock new characters, game modes or other perks. Some games even let you level up or customize your character using an amiibo.

  1. If you protect your smartphone screen, think about doing the same for your Nintendo Switch. The amFilm tempered glass screen protector offers 99.9 percent screen transparency, so there should be no interference to your view while you dive into the latest Zelda quest. It’s cheap and effective.
In this case, you’ve got two choices: buy another pair of Joy-Con, or buy a Nintendo Switch Pro controller. We’d suggest the latter: It’s a far more traditional gamepad, thus offering you a second option when you’re playing on the TV as well as solving the multiplayer problem, and it costs $10 less than buying a second pair of Joy-Con.
