Your objective is as straightforward as they come: Land the right punches and combos to knockout your opponent, while also dodging their attacks to avoid defeat. At launch, the game had its limitations, but Nintendo has been releasing updates (including new characters) to bolster the feisty little scrapper.
Pokken Tournament DX is like the Pokemon Stadium evolution a lot of us dreamed about as kids. On top of looking great and featuring exclusive fighters not in the arcade version, DX most importantly adds something that’s been sorely missing from Pokken: portability. 3D Pokemon fights on the go are a dream come true, and new 3v3 battles (on top of the standard 1v1) are a quick pick-up-and-play way to learn the battle system. A story mode, online battles, and the ability to pour skill points into Pokemon to increase their skills make this the definitive version of Pokken and one of the best fighting games on Switch. – Andrew Goldfarb

I wrote about my favorite board games from Settlers of Catan publisher Mayfair Games after they announced they would be shutting down their operation. I highly recommend picking up any of the games on this list, especially Star Trek: Five Year Mission if you enjoy co-op games and/or sci-fi.
With its birds-eye-view camera and 16-bit art direction, The Longest Five Minutes pays tribute to the 1990s RPG games of the past. The charming heartwarming story aims to be a practical RPG style game, filled with light-hearted comedy, unique characters and emotional storytelling that makes it an instant classic. The game makers behind The Longest Five Minutes are RPG fans themselves and have made a game specifically for fans that grew up playing them during their most prevalent decades.

As Noodle the snake you must work through a series of levels collecting remnants to open the end portal, but how you collect these items is what makes the game so fun. Using the right trigger will see Noodle slither along, with the face buttons used to help him climb higher to reach ledges, but Noodle must be supported to climb otherwise he’ll fall.

Disgaea 5 Complete is just as its name suggests: a jam-packed RPG filled with a ton of stories and gameplay hours that easily make it the best on the list for its content. Disgaea 5 Complete comes with the original Disgaea 5 story along with eight bonus scenarios, seven updated fan-favorite characters and multiple classes from past Disgaea games.
I couldn’t help but marvel at Gorogoa’s innovative use of space. The game’s sole developer and illustrator, Jason Roberts first conceptualized Gorogoa as a card game but later scrapped it because the mechanics were too complex. Fittingly, the simplicity of Gorogoa, with its lack of subtitles or voice acting, limited animations, and minimal use of audio, suits it well. On the screen are four panels presenting environment-based interactive puzzles that, once deciphered, will progress the story. The pictures shift and can be aligned in sequence to match up key atmospheric details, pulling off layers and overlapping others to reveal solutions and clues as the player explores and combines elements of each. Think of it as a picture book where the reader must solve a mystery hidden in the illustrations to turn each page.—Holly Green
