Common Sense is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle faced no shortage of skepticism before its launch. (Mario has a gun? And he’s hanging out with the Rabbids?) But UBisoft Milan’s robust strategy game proved itself with some truly challenging levels and accessible but complex turn-based gameplay, while also finding a way of marrying the Rabbids and Mushroom Kingdom’s senses of humor into one, charming experience. — Jonathon Dornbush
No console gaming experience is complete without a button-mashing romp through a destructible LEGO world, and LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 is the best on the market at the moment. Don’t let the fact that it’s a sequel put you off. This game stands a full head and shoulders higher than its predecessor (which is also awesome). The story is new. The level design is clever. And it’s got buckets of that classic tongue-in-cheek LEGO humour. Bash your way through hours of gameplay solo or with a friend.
Along with the company’s latest earnings report, Nintendo has shared a new list of its all-time titles across 3DS and Switch. The updated charts come from Nintendo’s website and provide new numbers for the top 10 best-selling 3DS games, as well as the top five best-sellers on the nascent hybrid console.
With plenty of new customisation options to help newer players get to grips, as well as added depth via new levels of drift boosting, 200cc trial modes and the all-new Battle Mode, this is an absolute must-buy for Nintendo Switch owners.
For these reasons, it may be worth waiting until the holiday season to pick up the Switch, since more games will be available and there’s a possibility retailers will offer bundle options on Black Friday. There are also unanswered questions about the Switch that Nintendo will likely clarify later this year, such as revealing more details about its new online service. Nintendo has also said that the virtual console, its digital shop for downloading retro games, will not be available on the Switch at launch.
Zelda is awesome, but this console does not come cheap let alone the add-ons and even games cost more…On the other hand the portability of full console game releases is at this time a unique thing within the video games marketplace. Playing a full scale Zelda title cruising on a King streetcar downtown T.O. is a crazily futuristic experience and I love it, having said that I must also say this console is in serious need of some more titles of a similar caliber to Zelda, and soon. But wait, here comes Mario Kart 8 Online…. (reaches for empty wallet)
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle makes the best Nintendo Switch role-playing game overall due to its positive acclaim, fresh creative design and fun gameplay. The winner of over 50 E3 awards and nominations brings a brand new cross over role-playing game with tactical play style only exclusive on the Nintendo Switch.
Hi I have recently decided to sell my switch only bought a couple months ago played it only a handful of times. Comes with everything in the picture and it also has a screen protector applied. It is …
Much like our Yoshi pick in this list, Kirby is another fan-beloved character from Nintendo who has starred in his own video game titles for a number of years now. The Nintendo Switch will soon have its own Kirby video game title in 2018 as well with Kirby Star Allies.
What memory cards does the Nintendo Switch need? Those will be Micro SD cards also known as, depending on their size, as MicroSDHC (up to 32GB) or MicroSDXC (up to a huge 2TB soon). Nintendo will be releasing their own branded cards, but you’ll be paying more, just for a label. So for now, we’d take a look at this range of cheap MicroSDXC Nintendo Switch-friendly cards.
QVC (yes, the home shopping network) has the console for around $550 (£430 or AU$720) with $15 shipping. This is an inflated price, but the site does offer a payment plan, which may be a good option for those who can’t throw down all that cash at once. The site also offers a three-year warranty for an added fee.
In Just Dance 2018, players select from a variety of 40-plus songs and dance to it by copying a virtual dancer on screen. You don’t have to worry about having an extra controller either, as Just Dance 2018 allows players to use their smartphone to control their movements with the Just Dance Controller app. The game features multiple modes, but most notably, there’s a multiplayer option for up to six players to all dance together at once, perfect for any slumber party.
By far the slickest Nintendo hardware to date. Have played Zelda for over 135 hours and not only is the game great, playing it while on the exercise bike, relaxing around the house was great as I am not tethered to the TV. The concept works as advertised. 1 star off for the barebones UI, lack of cloud saves and unknown online. But I feel like Nintendo has a winner with the Switch.
It’s worth noting that the Switch has great ports of I am Setsuna, Lego City Undercover, Human Resource Machine, World of Goo, and more, but we didn’t include them in this list, as we’re opting to spotlight only new games or games with new content. Without further ado, let’s run down the list of the best games on Nintendo Switch.
Wow! I just got mine today and it was awesome! But it didnt have a Gtx 1080 which i thought by now would be consumer standard by now… Overall its a very nice console, would buy again if I had the money. I really loved Nintendo’s version of GTA V and Fallout 6
Give in to more third-person paintball chaos with the second iteration of Nintendo’s turf war shooter. Play as an Inkling, spraying flurries of coloured globs to take control of the battlefield and swim through ink as a squid to reload. Enter four-on-four competitive multiplayer matches with all new weapons, modes and kit and get splatting. This is a family friendly shooter is still, refreshingly, completely blood-free. And this time, it’s got jetpacks. If you’re looking for a party game and you’re all Mario Kart-ed out, this is it.
Since I got this at launch I’ve already played dozens and dozens of hours. I really like this system, and the ability for it to switch from TV mode to portable mode in an instant is frankly incredible. Games are coming out at a steady clip, so just as I’m starting to get bored of one title a new one comes out that I can focus all my attention on. Accessories are really expensive, but generally high quality from what I’ve seen. Battery kind of sucks, but I have a portable battery charger that is able to provide it with several more hours of power. My left joy-con is having connectivity problems occasionally, but Nintendo apparently has a way you can send it in to get fixed. I’ve just not done it yet. If you like Nintendo games this is probably a no-brainer. I have few reservations about recommending this system. The biggest one being that if you aren’t very interested in Nintendo games you may just wanna pass this by. There are some good third party games, but if you don’t like Nintendo’s games you probably wont like the third party exclusives since they follow a similar thread of gameplay over anything else.
You’ve managed to snag a Nintendo Switch, and you’ve probably already picked up Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. But to truly get the most out of Nintendo’s new console, you’ll need some accessories.
With new weapons to choose from, local multiplayer, and a new type of Horde-style co-op mode, Nintendo’s colorful and wonderfully messy shooter is even better on the Switch. Splatoon 2 doesn’t feel substantially different than its Wii U predecessor, and that’s a good thing. The crown jewel of this sequel is the new Salmon Run co-op option, which requires you to splat Salmonoid enemies and gather special eggs along the way in order to progress. Shooter fans picking up a Nintendo console for the first time in a while should definitely consider giving Splatoon 2 a try.
The Nintendo Switch is a monster unto itself. There’s no backwards compatibility to WiiU or 3DS games. That means you’ll need to buy games specifically made for the Switch. Also, the lack of a virtual console (for now) means there’s no access to your favorite Nintendo games from the past.
Waterfield’s answer to the game case is an exquisite example of how you can look like a grown-up, but play like a kid. The Arcade Gaming Case is a beautiful designer bag made of full-grain leather (let me tell you, this leather feels so nice!) with a soft plush lining. It’s big enough to fit your Switch tablet (with the Joy-Cons detatched), a Hori Compact PlayStand, your Joy-Cons, all your necessary cables, and more. I managed to fit all of the above, plus my Mophie Powerstation XXL (which is a monolith itself) comfortably. It looks so good over your shoulder like a satchel, but also carries around briefcase style thanks to the leather handle on top.

With a completely original branching storyline, LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes 2 introduces amazing new gameplay features, including the ability for characters to manipulate time and a four-player competitive Super Hero …
Matches are incredibly fast-paced and satisfying, offering a tense competition that always feels fun and refreshing. You’ve also got a meaty solo campaign to dig into alongside a bunch of neat customisation options for your personal squid kid.
For any kid that loves adventurous explorations, The Legend of Zelda: Breadth of the Wild is by far the best game on the list. The award-winning game features a beautiful humungous world in a sandbox environment where players can explore on their terms without time constraints.
The Switch functions as both a home console and a mobile gaming system, so players can have the same experience on the go as on the couch. Thus, it’s consistently been listed as out of stock by major retailers like Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. Based on sky-high demand, Nintendo has reportedly boosted the production of Switches from 8 million to 16 million, and perhaps as high as 18 million, for the fiscal year.
There are also a number of tracking services such as Zoolert, BrickSeek, Now in Stock, and the recently created Nintendo Switch Finder, which promise to give shoppers a heads up where and when hard-to-find toys and electronics are available. Proceed with caution, though: These services tend to be hit or miss (some people complain the notices are inaccurate or too late to be useful), and you often have to subscribe to emails to receive alerts.
