So far, all we know is that Yoshi will be back into action in a new platforming title exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Visually, the video game looks to take some cues from the Paper Mario franchise but instead is focused on more construction-grade paper. For now, we’ll simply have to wait and see just what Nintendo has in-store.
When you’ve got your Switch in the dock and connected to the TV, your game time is perfect. You can grind your mats for hours without worrying about battery drain. But if you’re playing in mobile mode, you’ve got to add some recharge time. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn’t think about where the charging port is located when designing the Switch in tabletop mode.
You get a pair with the console, but you might want to buy more to allow extra players to get involved in games like Mario Kart 8, FIFA 18 and many more. Or maybe you just fancy some different colors for your own use.
A boxing game like you’ve never played before, ARMS lets players take on friends on the couch or online and take full advantage of the Joy-Con’s motion controls. Throwing punches with twists and turns to bend your character’s spaghetti-esque mitts, there’s a surprising level of strategy involved in what at first looks like a simple bash-em-up.
Snipperclips is a hilarious, 2D physics-based puzzle game and the quintessential Nintendo Switch experience for anyone interested in couch co-op experiences. The weird audible instructions shared between you and other players as you try to solve challenges will almost always make you laugh. But Snipperclips incredibly flexible puzzle designs offer you lots of opportunities to experiment and try out different solutions.
Taiwanese studio Rayark Games is responsible for this brilliant rhythm action title, which celebrates music from East Asian artists in a variety of genres including trance, pop, vocaloid and dubstep. Tapping, swiping and sliding notes as they appear on the Switch’s touch screen, it’s easy to get in the zone and feel like you’re controlling the music rather than responding to it. Deemo, from the same developer, is very similar but features a piano soundtrack.
Mike Andronico is an associate editor at Tom’s Guide. When he’s not writing about mobile tech and gaming, you can usually catch him playing Street Fighter, devouring Twitch streams and trying to convince people that Hawkeye is the best Avenger.
The Nintendo Switch absolutely represents the future of home consoles. I use the word “home” loosely, as what you have here is an extremely powerful portable unit as well. Out of the box, you’ll be surprised just how compact this unit really is. Set it up next to your TV and you’ll be saying “is that all?”. If you’ve owned other consoles in the past, you’ll know what I mean. You barely even see it. Add the small SD sized games, and even your storage needs for games is a tiny space. The unit with JoyCons attached feels solid in your hands. Separated with JoyCons on the joining controller it also feels solid. Adults will note that the joycon fits a bit smaller in the but you will quickly get used to it. The thing is, this is a console for all of the family, so having a controller that can be used by everyone is important. The Switch starts up fast, looks great on the screen (both TV and console), and does what it’s told when it is told. The simple interface on the console is a cinch for anyone to navigate. It will even start your TV up when you put the console on — without having to even set it up that way. Games look great no matter how you play. The internet connection is solid – never been an issue. Absolutely no regrets and a ton of fund playing Zelda and Imaginators. Can’t wait for more games – but to be honest these two will keep us going for awhile. No Netflix (yet) but I have it elsewhere. Would be nice though to take it on vacation – I imagine they will add it in the future. Love the Nintendo Switch! Rivals the NES as their best ever!!!!

Playstation VR bundles are $100 off through March 3 at Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, Dell, and most other retailers. The Gran Turismo Sport bundle is down to $199.99 (not available on Amazon), Doom bundle is $299.99, and Skyrim bundle is $349.99.
I was lucky enough to purchase this new console. (I agree with previous comments that shortage of supply is an old trick to generate demand, anyway…) The console is really well made (as usual for Nintendo) and smaller than expected. I would love to have at least a game included within the box to start without any additional expense. Based on the specs published on internet, I am also not sure that it is more powerful than the WII U (I own all Nintendo since the SNES) which might compromise its usage with future technology like VR or AI. Just my 2ct.
Like the title says, never have been in stock online or in store. Always out of stock. Been just over 2 months and can’t even purchase one…that’s sad that people have to wait for probably over 2 months because not many are brought in with each shipment smh
There’s a strong case to be made for why the Switch will be worth it for Nintendo devotees and casual gamers alike. The company’s long-running exclusive franchises like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. and The Legend of Zelda are usually enough to lure Nintendo loyalists on their own, although it’s worth noting that the new Zelda game will be available for the Wii U as well. Another bonus for Nintendo fans: those who subscribe to the company’s online service will also get to play a free NES or SNES game for a month.
The main difference from the PC and console iterations of the game is the ability to use the Switch’s motion controls and the option to play on the go (which is downright awe-inspiring). Just make sure you have a spare 300 hours to devote to it.
It’s not everyone that would have had the chance to enjoy Bayonetta 2 when it was first released back in 2014 thanks to its Wii U exclusivity. Fortunately, the game has finally come to Nintendo Switch alongside its fantastic predecessor, giving it the reach it deserves.

Looking back, the Switch costs just as much as the Wii U did when it was released in 2012. It’s also $50 more expensive than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, both of which are currently available for around $250. So is the Switch really worth it? The answer largely depends on your preferences and priorities, but here’s a look at what you should consider before buying.

Despite the swathes of changes to the Zelda template, Breath of the Wild still feels very much like a Zelda game. It’s more challenging than ever before, putting both your combat and puzzle-solving skills to the test, and every square inch of this ruined Hyrule aches to be explored. Take it from someone who’s played over 100 hours and still not finished it, there’s plenty to see and do in Breath of the Wild that makes this an absolutely essential purchase for every Switch owner.
