The “good” news is that there aren’t many games worth buying at the launch of the Switch. The one game everyone will be talking about, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” is a true delight. It’s also $60.
Essentially a millennial-early-adulthood simulator. Stuck in a crap town with no direction, friends band together to find meaning and laughter in life. Its smirk-inducing dialogue, and the honesty and humour with which is handles difficult themes such as mental illness, lead to some great intimate moments between characters whose lives you will genuinely care about.

This is a simple add-on that many gamers won’t need, but solves a very specific problem for certain Switch owners. This USB-C charging cable from Fyoung is over three feet in length, which may give you ample length to reach your connection. Its main benefit is it lets you “dock” your Switch and use it with your TV without it getting hot in the dock, but can also be used for transferring data to your Switch too. It’s just a cable, but it works quite well.
Nintendo Switch is the gaming system you can play at home or on-the-go. Walmart.ca has Nintendo Switch consoles in Grey Joy-Con and Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Con options. Once you’ve chosen your console, shop all Nintendo Switch games.
In the narrative, Super Meat Boy Forever tells the story of Dr. Fetus who has managed to kidnap Meat Boy and Bandage Girl’s child, Nugget. While the platforming mechanics are present, there are some slight gameplay mechanic overhauls made for the upcoming sequel as well.
Clearly spawned from a desire to recreate the magic of Wii Sports Boxing, ARMS is a peculiar fighting game with a difference. Holding a Joy-Con controller in each hand, you trade blows with a foe by literally swinging your fists. Thanks to Nintendo’s work building the Joy-Cons, it’s surprisingly accurate and – by customising your fighter’s interchangeable fists – it’s an incredibly accomplished fighter. The inclusion of same-screen, local and online multiplayer is also a nice little bonus and there’s plenty of mini-games and unlockables to keep single-player fans happy too. Nintendo also continually keep updating ARMS with new fighters while balancing its old roster so you’re never short of stuff to do.
Do what you never thought possible with Nintendo Switch. Go from single- and multi-player thrills at home, to playing the same title wherever and whenever you want. Simply attach the Joy-Con controllers to the bright, hi-def display and you’re all set. Or detach the controllers and give one to a friend for some on-the-go, local multiplayer action.
Resident Evil Revelations takes you back to what happened between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, revealing the truth about the virus. With limited ammo and weapons, the race to survive is on for just $14.
This upcoming title will retain the classic turn-based battle system with an added ability of a Boost system. The boost system will allow players to attack an enemy multiple times during a turn if enough Boost Points are acquired.
Possibly not! Remember how the Joy-Con controller splits in two? Turn them sideways and you get two basic controllers, each with their own analogue stick and face buttons – the d-pad acts as face functions on the left controller. So far we’ve seen 2K’s NBA series, Snipper Clips and Mario Kart being used this way for local multiplayer in both docked and tablet modes. So you get multiplayer functionality straight out of the box with no additional purchase required.
Rather than having a pre-defined order you must use to approach each major mission, Breath of the Wild opens the entire map up to you almost immediately, allowing you to approach the game in whatever order you see fit. You can spend hours just climbing trees and brewing elixirs, or you can even head straight to the game’s final boss if you’re feeling confident.
Lichtspeer takes place in a land rid with monsters, yet you are a champion who can channel the power of the Gods to take on enemies and restore balance to the universe. Grab your speer and restore your kingdom to it’s glory for just $7.
Got a Switch? If so, you’ll need Super Mario Odyssey stat. Alongside Zelda, it’s one of the absolute best reasons to have the handheld. In fact, if you don’t have the Switch, we advise running out and buying one with both of those games right now. Go on, we’ll wait.
This whole Switch launch has made me appreciate more what Apple does for its customers for new product launches. Is Apple perfect, nope, but compared to what a lot of Canadians are dealing with on preorders (especially from Best Buy), Apple really knows the important of it’s online/preorder customers.
At times it’s hard to believe something like this is running on Nintendo’s portable console as you climb vast mountains and trawl through dark industrial cities. It’s one of Monolith Soft’s finest efforts yet, and feels right at home on Switch.
This game requires you to unleash your imagination to create your own Skylanders that will battle Kaos and his minions. What’s fascinating about the game is that your own Skylanders will not go it alone; thanks to Eon who calls upon Senseis, the greatest mystic warriors of Skylands. Just like your own Skylanders, Sensies’ mission is to save Skylands from Kaos, and so they will fight alongside your own Skylanders for redemption.
You can also bite the bullet and pick up a system from the gray market; the Nintendo Switch seems to be going for around $450 from third-party sellers on sites like Amazon. Prices on eBay also seem to be hovering around $450 or so for the system itself.
It looks great, it plays superbly and thanks to the unique functionality of the Nintendo Switch, not only can it be enjoyed at home or on the go, but also has multiplayer built into the console with the Joy-con.
Super Meat Boy has been a sensation ever since it launched way back in 2010. Requiring unparalleled reflexes, superlative precision and the patience of a saint to overcome its incredible challenge, this is high-level 2D platforming at its finest.
Nintendo Switch cases come in different flavors. Joy-Con protectors keep your Nintendo Switch’s controllers from getting damaged in a fall. Nintendo Switch carry cases and travel cases are ideal ways to transport your console without covering it in something you will need to remove every time you drop it into the Nintendo Switch Dock. A Nintendo Switch case with a cover will protect your console’s display and double as an adjustable kickstand.
Waterfield’s answer to the game case is an exquisite example of how you can look like a grown-up, but play like a kid. The Arcade Gaming Case is a beautiful designer bag made of full-grain leather (let me tell you, this leather feels so nice!) with a soft plush lining. It’s big enough to fit your Switch tablet (with the Joy-Cons detatched), a Hori Compact PlayStand, your Joy-Cons, all your necessary cables, and more. I managed to fit all of the above, plus my Mophie Powerstation XXL (which is a monolith itself) comfortably. It looks so good over your shoulder like a satchel, but also carries around briefcase style thanks to the leather handle on top.
Console is great, durable and extremely easy to set up. Feels like a Nintendo product and the quality expectations of it. Only downside is no Netflix or other third party app support yet. If you are not into Zelda at the moment I would suggest waiting a little for more content to be released.
Since I got this at launch I’ve already played dozens and dozens of hours. I really like this system, and the ability for it to switch from TV mode to portable mode in an instant is frankly incredible. Games are coming out at a steady clip, so just as I’m starting to get bored of one title a new one comes out that I can focus all my attention on. Accessories are really expensive, but generally high quality from what I’ve seen. Battery kind of sucks, but I have a portable battery charger that is able to provide it with several more hours of power. My left joy-con is having connectivity problems occasionally, but Nintendo apparently has a way you can send it in to get fixed. I’ve just not done it yet. If you like Nintendo games this is probably a no-brainer. I have few reservations about recommending this system. The biggest one being that if you aren’t very interested in Nintendo games you may just wanna pass this by. There are some good third party games, but if you don’t like Nintendo’s games you probably wont like the third party exclusives since they follow a similar thread of gameplay over anything else.

Snipperclips is a hilarious, 2D physics-based puzzle game and the quintessential Nintendo Switch experience for anyone interested in couch co-op experiences. The weird audible instructions shared between you and other players as you try to solve challenges will almost always make you laugh. But Snipperclips incredibly flexible puzzle designs offer you lots of opportunities to experiment and try out different solutions.
The same price applies to games like “Skylanders Imaginators,” though there are a small handful of lower-priced games (“Snipperclips” is $19.99, for instance). But let’s be honest: You’re going to want “Zelda.”
The Switch isn’t just home to cutesy exclusives. For those looking for something a bit grittier outside of the Nintendo fold, there’s Bethesda’s classic open-world RPG. You play a prophesized hero tasked with battling a horde of fearsome dragons – – that’s if you don’t get distracted by the endless list of side quests.
Finally, not having any kind of backward compatibility with Wii U was a tough hit for the few of us that actually supported Nintendo during their hard times and had a Wii U. I would love to be able to import my digital games and saves from the last console (like the Wii U allowed to do from the Wii) but they completely ignored us. Considering that 2 of the best games of Switch are available on Wii U (Zelda and Mario Kart) and that another one is barely an expansion on a Wii U one (Splatoon 2 doesn’t add that much from Splatoon 1) you would think that it wouldn’t be that hard for them to at least give us Wii U players a discount for a digital version upgrade from a Wii U to Switch game.
The Switch had a strong opening lineup. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey scored 10s across the board, and Nintendo itself even won Brand of the Year at this year’s prestigious T3 Awards.
Along with the company’s latest earnings report, Nintendo has shared a new list of its all-time best-selling titles across 3DS and Switch. The updated charts come from Nintendo’s website and provide new numbers for the top 10 best-selling 3DS games, as well as the top five best-sellers on the nascent hybrid console.
If challenging run-and-jump games aren’t your thing, Celeste might just win you over anyway. Otherworldly and endearing, Celeste follows a pixel-art character on a journey up a mountain, encouraging you through its fiendish, treacherous areas with affirmations and optimism. A tough game with an uplifting message: don’t let the voice inside your head tell you that you can’t do things.
Wow! I just got mine today and it was awesome! But it didnt have a Gtx 1080 which i thought by now would be consumer standard by now… Overall its a very nice console, would buy again if I had the money. I really loved Nintendo’s version of GTA V and Fallout 6
